Sesame Pork Appetizers

30 Oct

Pork tenderloin marinated in sherry and soy sauce, and then brushed with honey and sesame seeds and baked. These are then sliced into strips and served as an appetizer with a homemade ginger, sesame oil sauce for dipping.

2 12-oz Pork Tenderloins
½ cup dry sherry
1 Tbsp soy sauce
½ cup honey
½ cup sesame seeds
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 green onion, finely chopped
1 Tbsp dry sherry
1 Tbsp dark sesame oil
1 small clove garlic, crushed
½ tsp peeled, grated gingerroot
Fresh spinach leaves

  1. Place tenderloins in a large heavy duty, zip-top plastic bag. Combine ½ cup sherry and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Pour marinade mixture over tenderloins; seal bag securely. Place bag in a bowl; marinate in refrigerator 1 to 2 hours.
  2. Remove tenderloins from marinade, discarding marinade. Brush tenderloins with honey; roll in sesame seeds. Place on a rack in a roasting pan lined with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until meat thermometer inserted into thickest part of tenderloins registers 160 degrees.
  3. Combine 1/3 cup soy sauce and next 5 ingredients in a small serving bowl; stir well. To serve, thinly slice tenderloins, and arrange on a spinach-lined serving platter. Serve with soy sauce mixture. Yields 10 to 12 appetizer servings.
