1 small head cabbage
6 slices bacon
1 small onion
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
1 tsp dill weed or 3 dill leaves, chopped fine
- Wash, core and slice the cabbage. Set aside to drain.
- Fry the bacon slices crisp and set them aside.
- Slice the onion fine and brown in the bacon fat. Add the salt, pepper and dill. Last, add the drained cabbage. Cover and simmer over a low heat until the cabbage is tender, about 1 hour. Add water if needed during the cooking.
- When the cabbage is tender, remove it from the pan to a serving dish. Garnish with the bacon slices. Makes 4 servings.
