-By Carrie (Strommen) Lennie

1 small head cabbage
6 slices bacon
1 small onion
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
1 tsp dill weed or 3 dill leaves, chopped fine

  1. Wash, core and slice the cabbage. Set aside to drain.
  2. Fry the bacon slices crisp and set them aside.
  3. Slice the onion fine and brown in the bacon fat. Add the salt, pepper and dill. Last, add the drained cabbage. Cover and simmer over a low heat until the cabbage is tender, about 1 hour. Add water if needed during the cooking.
  4. When the cabbage is tender, remove it from the pan to a serving dish. Garnish with the bacon slices. Makes 4 servings.
