Sweet Potatoes

A traditional Thanksgiving side dish of baked sweet potatoes cooked in a brown-sugar sauce.

1 sweet potato
1 cup brown sugar
½ stick butter


  1. Boil sweet potato in pot of water until soft but still firm (not mushy). Remove and let cool.
  2. Remove peel but leave the waxy material on potato.
  3. Melt butter. Mix in brown sugar until correct consistency (thick but still pourable).
  4. Cut potato into wedges (long). Place in baking dish and pour sauce over them. Cook in oven at 350 degrees until hot.
