Traditional Christmas butter cookie cutouts covered in colored sugar. This was Robert Salzer’s favorite cookie when he was a kid.

1 lb butter
8 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla
- Cream butter. Add sugar. Add eggs 1 at a time. Add vanilla. Cream until fluffy. Mix 2 cups flour with baking powder and cinnamon. Blend on low. Stir rest of flour in with spoon.
- Roll dough out to ¼” thickness. Make cutouts with cookie cutter. Use a metal spatula to move the cutout to the cookie sheet. Decorate with colored sugar.
- Bake at 350 degrees until cookies start to turn brown along the edge.
