Nutty Apple Streusel Dessert

This cinnamon-apple dessert is slow cooked for 7 hours and then served with vanilla ice cream.

6 cups tart apples, sliced and peeled
1 ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground allspice
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
¾ cup milk
2 Tbsp butter, softened
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup biscuit/baking mix

1 cup biscuit/baking mix
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
3 Tbsp cold butter
½ cup sliced almonds
Vanilla ice cream


  1. In a large bowl, toss apples with cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Place in a greased slow cooker.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine milk, butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and baking mix; mix well. Spoon over apples.
  3. For topping, combine biscuit mix and brown sugar in a bowl; cut in butter until crumbly. Add almonds; sprinkle over apples.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or until the apples are tender. Serve with ice cream.
